Brief Abstract

European- and US-based experts will describe recent progress with trials and demonstrations of commercial vehicle platooning in both continents, bringing forth academic as well as industry perspectives. The recently-completed ENSEMBLE project in Europe and truck platooning efforts in the US will be highlighted, and prospects in truck platooning research and deployment will be discussed as well.

Speaker Bios

Katrin Sjöberg (Volvo Group) received her B.Sc. degree in C.E. and her M.Sc. degree in C.E. from Halmstad University, Sweden, in 2000 and 2002, respectively. In 2013, she earned her Ph.D. degree in signals and systems from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. Her current employment is as technical adviser in connectivity at Volvo Autonomous Solutions within the Volvo Group and is based out of Göteborg, Sweden. She is active in legislation, standardization and research in the field of connected and automated mobility.

Samer Rajab (Locomation) is a V2V/V2X Communications Lead at Locomation, Inc. He joined Locomation in 2021 with focus on V2X system development as an integral part of the company’s Autonomous Relay Convoy (ARC) product. Dr. Rajab received his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 2016 and he has over 10 years of V2X and wireless communications experience in both academia and industry. He is a well published researcher in the domains of connected and automated vehicles, wireless communications, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
