We are pleased to announce the winners of 2023-2024 ITSS Germany Chapter PhD Dissertation Competition.
This time, we received a record number of submissions, making the selection process particularly challenging. Our panel of senior international researchers from our research community carefully evaluated each dissertation, considering the originality, impact, and contributions to the field. We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants for submitting their exceptional work and making this competition a remarkable success.
To give you a sense of the impressive caliber of all applicants, here are a few highlights:
Collectively, applicants account for nearly 3,000 citations.
Applicants contributed over 150 peer-reviewed publications, including 50 journal articles.
Participants were part of over ten conferences organized by our society.

Dr. Jiaming Zhang received his PhD and continues as a postdoc at KIT while being an Academic Guest at ETH. His research lies at the intersection of computer vision and assistive technologies, building intelligent mobility systems to assist humans, including those with visual impairments.
