The German Autonomy Summit (GAS) is a two-day interdisciplinary event with the goal to establish a recurring national forum to unite the German robotics, automation, and intelligent transportation systems communities, including early-career researchers, academic leaders, and industrial partners.
When? — 10th and 11th December 2025
Where? — Technische Universität München (TUM) IAS-Building
Full address: Lichtenbergstraße 2 a, 85748 Garching bei München
Technical topics: GAS focuses on the intersection of ITSS- and RAS-related topics, including but not limited to:
Perception for Mobile Systems
SLAM
Motion Planning and Control
Autonomous Systems
Datasets and Benchmarking
- Foster synergies between RAS and ITSS fields in Germany
- Disemination of scientific work in perception, navigation, control, learning and autonomous systems.
- Promote collaboration between academia and industry on automation and autonomous systems.
- Provide a platform for young researchers to present their work and connect with experts.
- Recognize outstanding contributions through technical awards and a student poster competition.
Special Issue IEEE OJ-ITS
We are partnering with the IEEE Open Journal on Intelligent Transportation Systems (OJ-ITS) to publish a special issue in connection with GAS. Authors are encouraged to submit original contributions that explore advances in automation and ITS applications, especially those addressing challenges and opportunities in the German context.
Information about the special issue, topics of interest and submission deadline will soon follow.

IEEE ITSS Germany Young Researcher Awards @GAS'25
The IEEE ITSS Germany Young Research Award (YRA) is granted biennially for student work in any ITS area that is innovative and relevant to practice.
This award has been established to encourage student research in Germany that combines theory and practice, having the potential to contribute to the ITSS.
Elegibility
Eligible candidates do not hold a PhD degree. Candidates must have contributed with a Bachelor, Diploma or Master thesis within the period October 2023 to November 2025.
Nomination Materials
Each application must consist of the following materials:
- A non-PhD thesis (bachelor, master, Diploma or equivalent degree) written in English or German by the applicant at a German institution and defended between October 2023 and November 2025.
- A summary of the work in English of one page in length written by the applicant, highlighting the significance of the problem and the contribution.
- The applicant’s IEEE membership number. (optional)
